Here is the obituary for Douglas Robert Maclaine Mitchell

Douglas Robert Maclaine Mitchell
Suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday, October 23 at his home in Devonshire, Bermuda at the age of 54; beloved son of Iain and Martha Mitchell of Ancaster, dear brother of Anne and her husband, Noel Langhorne of Toronto; adored Uncle Puff of Vivienne and Alistair Langhorne. Following his schooling in Ancaster, at Trinity College School, and at McGill, Doug headed to Bermuda, where he lived for close to thirty years. He had many friends, from outlaws to oligarchs, with whom he shared very late nights full of storytelling, music, and most of all, laughter. Doug was kind and generous. He would find or create the perfect gift. He would drop everything to see someone in need. He treated everyone around him with respect, but had little patience for the pompous. Doug was enormously well read. He had a vast scope and breadth of knowledge, but was never condescending. He was full of curiosity and wonder about the world. He could talk poetry with poets, music with musicians, and politics with politicians He would travel great distances to surprise a friend, for live music, and for an open road. Doug seemed to remember everything, and delighted when you could remind him of some shared memory or tiny detail from the past. He did not wait around for fun, he made it in everything he did. Any golf game, night out, or evening at home was better in his company. He will be deeply missed. A celebration of Doug’s life will take place on Friday November 9th at 3pm at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club, Ancaster. Another celebration will be held in Bermuda at a later date. In lieu of flowers, belly up to the bar with a friend and order something off the top shelf in his honour.
